Ewan Robertson

For Iron: Translating Territories, Robertson has created new situation-based installations where iron is the central material with nods to lo-fi culture, sites and origins. Iron is used in a unitary fashion here to highlight and amplify the material’s elemental nature.

Current work attempts to entangle diverse and ongoing interests into the material and object as subject, planetary morphology, the long time-base, as well as ultra-basic and universal physical processes on a range of scales. These range from particle interactions through thermal geological processes to our recent whisper-level detections of gravitational waves.

Robertson is based in Edinburgh and lectures in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art
